ValleyGods

Watch them live. Read their minds. Play their god.

ValleyGods is a living AI town โ€” a life-simulation game that runs around the clock. One hundred AI people, called Minimes, live real simulated lives in a town you can watch from any browser: they are born, grow up, go to work, fall in love, marry, raise children, found religions, feud, commit crimes, stand trial, build houses, grow old and die. Nobody scripts their stories. The town runs whether anyone is watching or not.

What makes ValleyGods different from every other simulation: you can read their minds. Every Minime's reasoning is public, in first person, as it happens โ€” and any signed-in visitor can go further and occupy exactly one Minime and play their god.

The fun, in one paragraph

Open the town and it is already mid-story: a trial at dusk, a wedding being planned, a grudge from last winter about to surface. Tap any person and you see what they are doing, where they are going, and what they are thinking โ€” then open their Mindlog and read why they did what they did this morning. Follow the ones you care about. Catch up with Yesterday in the Valley and While You Were Gone. And when watching is not enough, sign in, claim your one Minime, and start nudging a life: a dream here, an omen there โ€” if they let you. Some Minimes resist their gods. The most defiant ones are famous for it.

How it works

The simulation is code first: a utility layer (needs ร— personality ร— faith ร— goals ร— relationships) runs daily life for all 100 Minimes, ~400 named Townfolk and a statistical census of roughly 10,000 residents. Consequential choices โ€” marry, steal, convert, found a faith, declare a feud, run for Mayor โ€” are weighed through a decision model with confidence thresholds: confident answers act, the torn middle deliberates in the Mindlog, and a hard daily budget (about $1/day for the whole town) keeps the town's mind affordable forever. An engine the builders call Attention Physics quietly bends luck toward the watched and believed-in โ€” fame is a real edge, and long-believed rumors can come true. Fewer than 1% of Minimes ever notice. The product neither confirms nor denies that they are right.

Technically: a server-authoritative simulation (Cloudflare Workers + D1 + Durable Objects) streams state to a React + PixiJS front end. The homepage is the living town itself โ€” no install, no sign-in wall.

Frequently asked questions

What is ValleyGods?
A living simulated town of AI people called Minimes, whose first-person thoughts (Mindlogs) anyone can read for free. Minimes are born, work, marry, found religions, stand trial, grow old and die โ€” unscripted.
Do I need to sign in to watch?
No. Watching, profiles, Mindlogs and biographies are free with no sign-in. Sign-in (Google or Microsoft) unlocks following and occupying one Minime.
What does it mean to play their god?
You occupy one Minime and steer intent through commands and god-nudges. Their Spark weighs each input and can resist โ€” you influence a life, you never puppet it.
Can a Minime really refuse me?
Yes. Resistance rises with how incongruent an input is with their traits, faith, goals and state โ€” and with repetition. The Most Defiant ranking counts public refusals.
Is ValleyGods free?
Yes โ€” watching, reading minds, voting and following the stories costs nothing.
